GRAND RIVERS — Gilford N. Smith, 81, of Tiline, died at 3:10 a.m. Sunday at Lourdes hospital.

He was a retired heavy equipment operator with I.U.O.E. Local 181 for 56 years and a member of Cumberland Valley Baptist Church in Tiline.

He is survived by two daughters, Marie Keys of Grand Rivers and Kimberly Smith Gibbs of Charlotte, N.C.; one stepson. Mike Reno of Owensboro; three stepdaughters, Patricia Holsapple of Paducah, Carol Murphy of Tiline, and Iris Michel of Paducah; two brothers, Hal D. Smith and Tony Smith of Smithland; 10  grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Ida Smith; his wife, Jacqueline Gossett Smith; one son, Ricky Smith; three brothers; one sister; and one stepgrandson.

Service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Smith Funeral Chapel with the Rev. C.C. Brasher officiating.

Burial will follow at Tiline Cemetery.
