BENTON — Mr. Thomas “Galen” Edwards, age 70, of Benton, Ky., died Friday, August 3, 2012, at his home in Benton. Born March 28, 1942, in New York, Ky. he was retired from the Marshall County Road Department. He was also a Cement Mason, a Machinist, a Farmer and an Entrepreneur. He was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. Mr. Edwards was a member of the Briensburg Masonic Lodge #401 and was also a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Benton.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Karon Lee (Jones) Edwards of Benton; two sons, Jeffrey Galen Edwards and wife, Brenda of Benton and Brett Wade Edwards and wife, Kathy of Benton; five grandchildren, Brittany Spalding and husband, Adam of Benton, Bethany Lyles and husband, Evan of Benton, Brooke Edwards of Benton, Morgan Edwards of Benton and Claire Edwards of Benton; two great-grandchildren, Braelyn Spalding and Brody Spalding, both of Benton.

One brother, Richard Keith Edwards and wife, Anita of Blandville, Ky., also survives.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Thomas Edwards, and his mother, Asaleen (Brown) Edwards.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 6, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Collier Funeral Home in Benton.

The Rev. Charles Frazier will officiate.

Interment will follow in Marshall County Memory Gardens in Benton.

Friends may visit with the family between the hours of 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2012, at Collier Funeral Home in Benton.

Masonic Rites will be held Sunday, August 5, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Collier Funeral Home, the public is invited to attend.
