CRAYNE — Maurie Houston Kirk, 90, of Crayne, Ky., died Thursday, July 19. Kirk was a retired Chrysler employee, a farmer, an election clerk, a member of the Crayne Community Church, and a combat veteran of World War II who received both the Purple Heart and the Silver Star.

He is survived by a loving family, his wife, Virginia Kirk; two children, John Kirk (and wife, Patricia Kirk) and Mauri Renee Eady (and husband, Robin Eady); as well as four grandchildren, Matthew Systo (and wife and daughter, Robbie Systo and Laela Turner), Mauri Systo, Sam Kirk and Rachel Kirk.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Allie and Vera Kirk of Crayne; and a grandson, John B. Kirk.

Services will be held at Myers Funeral Home in Marion, Ky. Visitation will take place Sunday, July 22, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. The funeral will be Monday, July 23 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Mapleview Cemetery in Marion.
