MELBER — Rena Walters, 102, Melber, KY, died Saturday, July 7, 2012, at 9:45 p.m. at Superior Care Home where she had resided for one month.
Rena was born on August 5, 1909, to the late George Oscar and Polly Thurston Burnett. She was a longtime member of Owens Chapel United Methodist Church. Her hobbies and interest through the years have been quilting, gardening, attending church, and being a farmer’s wife.
Survivors include one daughter, Martha Sue Jones, Melber, KY; three sons, Russell Lee (Pat) Walters, Lone Oak, KY, Tommy (Joann) Walters, Pembroke, KY, and Joseph (Barbara) Walters, Melber, KY; one brother, Carl (Vida) Burnett, Paducah, KY; three grandchildren, Michael (Darlene) Cramer, Trena (Jason) Taylor, and Jason (Danielle) Walters; eight great-granchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, and several neices and nephews.
Preceding in death were husband, Owen Otey Walters; one son, William Owen Walters; parents; one sister, Myrtle Barnhill; three brothers, Rudy Burnett, Walton Burnett, and Vernice Burnett.
Services will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Story officiating. Burial will follow in the Owens Chapel Cemetery in Melber, KY.
Friends may visit with the family Tuesday after 5:00 p.m. at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home.
