“The Amazing Spider-Man”
A young Peter Parker finds a clue that leads him on a path toward understanding why his parents disappeared.
The buzz: All points indicate that the latest Spider-Man movie is a little more bland than the previous three. Comic lovers may have a hard time with the reboot, and it may be one lost with other summer comic book movies eclipsing its popularity.
Showing at: Cinemark
Length: 135 minutes
3-D show times: 11:15 a.m., 1:15 p.m., 2:15 p.m., 4:15 p.m., 5:15 p.m., 7:15 p.m., 8:15 p.m., and 10:15 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Digital show times: 12:15 p.m., 3:15 p.m., 6:15 p.m., and 9:15 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
“Savages”
Two men who specialize in growing marijuana are forced to do battle with a Mexican drug cartel to get their girlfriend back.
The buzz: For action junkies, this is the one to see this weekend. Blake Lively turns into a sultry drug dealer’s girlfriend, and Salma Hayek only enhances the movie’s sensuality. Oliver Stone directs, so at the very least it will be cinematically brilliant.
Showing at: Cinemark
Length: 131 minutes
Show times: 1:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m., and 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
“Katy Perry: Part of Me”
A documentary on pop singer Katy Perry.
The buzz: Documentaries very rarely make it to the mass-marketed big screen, but Perry’s is beautifully shot and is an uplifting story. For entertainment junkies, it’s a look inside a celebrity’s life. She was reportedly very active in the making of the movie, so don’t expect an expose.
Showing at: Cinemark
Length: 95 minutes
3-D showtimes: 2:15 p.m., 4:40 p.m., 7:05 p.m., and 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

“Moonrise Kingdom”
Two pre-teens fall in love and run away together into the woods. As the entire island searches for them, a storm brews off the coast.
The buzz: Wes Anderson fans should be excited. Not only is the screen play that off-kilter, strange humor that everyone has learned to love, but the cast list is speckled with hard-hitting names. Edward Norton plays a strange Boy Scout leader, Bill Murray is the girl’s slightly off father. Bruce Willis is the town sheriff. Combine that with the genius writing of Anderson and you have a cult classic waiting to happen.
