Floyd “Sug” Rice, age 84, of Paducah, passed away peacefully at 10:50 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2012, at Lourdes hospital.
Sug, who was always a very giving person, will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, papaw, and friend.
Sug served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard, and for over 40 years was an over the road driver for A & H Truck Lines, and a member of the Teamsters Local Union 236 since 1959. He was a faithful member of the Lone Oak Church of Christ for 70 years. Sug was also a member of the Plain City Masonic Lodge No. 449, the Rizpah Temple, and the York Rite.
Sug’s hobbies included driving a stock car and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Sug is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Patsy “Pat” Miller Rice, and 2 daughters, Linda Crowe-Curtis and her husband David of Paducah, and Debbie Alderson Graves and her husband Steven, also of Paducah. Other survivors include 1 sister, Doris Phillips, of Lone Oak; a grandson, Tony Crowe and his wife Amy of Lone Oak, and 2 great-grandsons, Jake Cowles and Stone Crowe, also of Lone Oak.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda J. Rice; 2 sisters, Barbara Nell Rice, and Helen Dunning, and 1 brother, Glenn Rice Jr. His parents were James Glen Rice Sr. and Eula Lee Torian Rice.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2012, at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah, with Jamey Boone and Paul Wingfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2012, at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah, where Masonic Rites will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. by members of the Plain City Lodge No. 449.
