MSU scholarship art auction set

Murray State University’s fourth annual art auction, which helps the school raise money for scholarships for art students, will be on Friday, Nov. 18. The money also helps bring visiting artists to campus.

The auction will feature pieces by both professional area artists and students. Admission is free for the event, which will take place in the Clara M. Eagle Gallery on campus. Refreshments will be served. The silent auction will begin at 7 p.m., while the live auction will take place at 7:30 p.m.

Choral concert coming to Paducah

Paducah Chamber Music Society is presenting a concert of choral works by Vienna’s favorite composer, Anton Bruckner, on Saturday. Tony Whitfield, Bruckner expert, will direct a select group of adult chamber singers in a program that includes “Locus Iste,” “Three Christmas Motets,” “Mass in C,” and several other Bruckner compositions. Accompanying the group are accomplished professionals Malissa Heath, organ and Jake Siener, bass.

The concert will be held at 7 p.m., at First Christian Church, 415 Audubon Drive, in Paducah. Tickets are $10 in advance reservations or $15 at the door. For advance reservations, call (270) 443-2035. All proceeds go towards funding the Paducah Chamber Music Society’s mission to present chamber music concerts in the area.

PAPA Gallery holding meet-and-greet

Paducah Area Painter’s Alliance will hold a meet-and-greet, allowing area artists to meet with the public, on Saturday, Nov. 12. The free event will include refreshments, and will be held at the PAPA Gallery from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A.I.R. hosting collage workshop

Liz Vaughan, Paducah Arts Alliance’s newest artist in residence at A.I.R. Studio, will hold a collage workshop at the studio on Saturday, Oct. 29. The workshop will teach guests about different tools to use, as well as how to use stencils, gel transfers, and screen printing in the process.

Reservations must be made for the workshop, which will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the studio, 621 Madison St. Tickets are $10 a person. Check out facebook.com/paducahartsalliance for more information.

Quilt Museum gearing up for Halloween

The National Quilt Museum has announced plans for its 3rd Annual Blacklight Ghost Tour, which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 29. The tour begins promptly at 5:15 p.m. Costumes are encouraged for all who attend, and the museum will give out treats to guests. Admission is $5 and reservations are encouraged. Gallery showing shoebox-sized art

Murray State University’s Clara M. Eagle Art Gallery is showing an exhibit of the 10th International Shoebox Sculpture Exhibition, which features work from 14 countries. The show will be on display until Nov. 6, and admission is free.

The Eagle Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m and Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. For more information call 270-809-3052.
