HICKORY — Mr. and Mrs. Billy Cole Poyner of Hickory recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner hosted by their children at Patti’s restaurant in Grand Rivers.

Mr. Poyner and the former Elizabeth Ann McCuan were married July 15, 1961, at Lynnville Church of Christ in Lynnville with Willard Alls Sr. officiating. Their attendants were Sona Wilson Knight and Charles Melvin.

Mrs. Poyner is a retired medical receptionist, having worked 33 years. She is the daughter of the late Miller and Lottie Stephenson McCuan.

Mr. Poyner is retired from Continental General Tire in Mayfield, having worked 44 years. He is the son of the late Hassell B. and Mary Elna Melvin Poyner.

They have two children: Dr. Barry Cole Poyner of Kirksville, Mo., and Kelly Dianne Poyner Leonard of Hickory; and three grandchildren.
