Larry and Tena Payne of Paducah announce the engagement of their daughter, Kendra Lillian Payne, to Richard Shane “Shay” Mitchell, son of Judy Parrish of Murray and the late Roger Mitchell.

Miss Payne is the granddaughter of Lillian Burdge of Belleville, Ill., and the late Adelbert Burdge, and Lillian Payne Hyatt of Paducah and the late David Payne. She is a 1995 graduate of St. Mary High School, a 1999 graduate of Western Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in advertising/marketing and earned a master’s degree in organizational communication in 2010 from Murray State University. She is employed by The Paducah Sun.

Mr. Mitchell is the grandson of Isabell Jetton of Murray and the late Bobby Jetton, and Betty and Bobby Mitchell of Murray. He is a 1988 graduate of Calloway County High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health in 1995 from Murray State University. He is employed by S.M. Stoller Corp. in Kevil.

Wedding vows will be exchanged July 30 at First Baptist Church Carson Chapel in Paducah.
