America has never had a concrete definition for the word “crazy.” The idea is challenged in court every day. So it is no wonder that people don't know exactly how to react to Charlie Sheen.

Sheen has been Hollywood's bad boy. So obvious curiosity abounds when he goes from bad to worse. Add to that all of the attention from Sheen's media blitz in the past two weeks, and you don't have to wonder why Sheen's face is everywhere.

Everyone wants a piece of the Charlie Sheen pie. Sheen translates to ratings and views. Websites are updating gossip, he’s done in-depth interviews on every major station, and even sound boards on the Internet allow you to click for your favorite Sheen-ism.

Don't get me wrong. I have updated my Facebook status with the best of his quotes. I watched "60 Minutes" and spent a lot of that time laughing. But it just recently hit me: Am I having fun at the expense of Charlie Sheen?

The answer is an undeniable, resounding yes.

Is something wrong with Charlie Sheen. His mind doesn’t seem to be working correctly. Unless a paper trail shows he ordered, paid for and injected tiger’s blood into his body, I obviously won't believe him. Also, because he has allowed TV crews 24-hour access to his house, I know he isn't an assassin warlock.

He is fragmented and needs help. But he won't get it. And he wants the spotlight. He will do anything for five more minutes. So why not give it to him?

The recent interviews are some of the best TV I have ever watched. Sheen talks in only metaphors and, I think, truly believes everything he says. In his head, he really believes that “Charlie Sheen” is a drug, and if you take it your face will melt off. He’s living with a porn star and a model who whole-heartedly buy into his erratic behavior.

Right now, people are laughing with Sheen, not at him. Television stations push his name, get their ratings, but he gets money in return. He is suing some of the most prominent people in the business, hoping for a more than $300 million payday. His Twitter account has broken two speed records for followers (he had more than 2 million by last weekend). And he loves it.

As an American and as a spectator, I trust in the authorities to make sure Sheen doesn't cause irreparable harm to the people around him. I hope he gets help, I really do. But I can't go out to Los Angeles, perform an intervention and take him to safety.

So I might as well watch him while he is "winning."
