TENNIS: The Paducah Tennis Association will sponsor a free beginner adult tennis play day on September 20, 10 a.m. to noon at the Chad Gamble Tennis Courts at Paducah Tilghman High School.  The event is designed for adults wanting to learn the game of tennis and for those returning to it. Contact Priscilla Schiff, at paducahtennis1@comcast.net, for more information.

TENNIS: The Paducah Tennis Association will hold a free adult beginner clinic in the month of October. There will be four instructional sessions followed by four match play sessions. The clinic will take place at the Chad Gamble Tennis Courts at Paducah Tilghman High School from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The instructional dates are October 7, 9, 14 and 16.  The match play dates are October 21, 23, 28 and 30.  Contact Priscilla Schiff at paducahtennis1@comcast.net for more information and to register.

SOFTBALL: The Mayfield Middle School basketball team is sponsoring a co-ed softball tournament to be played September 6-7 at the Mayfield Graves County ballpark. GOLF: The Calvert City Ladies Golf Association will sponsor a two-person charity golf scramble to benefit the Calvert City Lions Club on September 9 at the Calvert City Country Club. Entry fee is $60 per team with check-in at 8 a.m. and tee-off at 9. For further information, call David Madison at 270-556-9279.

GOLF: The Ballard County Country Club Ladies Golf Association will host a two-lady golf tournament at 8:30 a.m. on September 23.  Entry fee is $30 per person to play and $15 per person for cart rental. GOLF: The Baptist Health Foundation of Paducah will host its seventh annual golf tournament scramble on September 15 at the Country Club of Paducah. Morning and afternoon times are reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis and registration is due by September 1. All of the proceeds benefit patient care services, including cardiology, cancer care, neurology and neonatal care. For registration or sponsorship information, call 270-575-2871.

GOLF: Lowes High School Alumni will hold a golf scramble on August 30 at 8 a.m. at Silos Country Club. For further information, call Bruce Wyatt at 270-856-3156 or Rodney Terry at 270-970-1167.

GOLF: The Calvert City Country Club is accepting entries into the LakeLand Open two-ball scramble, which will take place  September 27 and 28.  Entries can be obtained through calvertcitycountryclub.com or calling Karen Puckett at 270-703-0082.

BASEBALL: The Murray-Calloway Co. Parks and Recreation Department is accepting entries for a fall adult (18-over) recreational co-ed slowpitch softball league.  The league will be governed by NSA rules with a few local modifications and is limited to the first 12 teams to enter.  Season starts on September 2 and runs through October 26 with a 10-game regular season and post-season double-elimination tourney.  Team entry fee is $425.  Call the MCC Parks at 270-762-0325 or email tab.brockman@murrayparks.org to register or for additional information.

GOLF: Oaks Country Club will host a dour-person scramble to benefit the Kentucky Sheriff's Boys and Girls Ranch on September 18. Entry fee is $60 per player or $240 per team with an 8 a.m. siren start. For further information, call the ranch at 270-362-8660 or the club at 270-753-6454.

GOLF: Kenny Perry and Russ Cochran will host their annual Tour Players Charity Scramble to benefit Paxton Park and Junor Golf on September 9 at Paxton Park. Entry fee is $150 per player. Each player gets two rounds of golf, a clinic hosted by Perry and Cochran, lunch catered by Texas Roadhouse, a chance at a $10,000 hole-in-one plus other hold pprizes. Clinic starts at 10 a.m. with lunch at 11 a.m. and golf at noon. Entry forms are available at the Paxton Park Pro Shop.

GOLF: The Oaks Country Club will host the Calloway County Charity Golf Scramble on September 18. It will be a four-person scramble with an entry fee of $60 per person or $240 per team. For further information, call 270-753-6454.
