SOFTBALL: The Paducah Lady Storm softball team will hold tryouts for its 12-under team on July 26, at Stuart Nelson Park on Stuart Nelson Park Rd in Paducah. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. with tryouts from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Girls with 2002 and 2003 birth dates are eligible. SOFTBALL: Open tryouts for the Downstate Rippers Softball Organization will take place August 3 at Ray Fosse Park in Marion, Ill. for teams 8-under through 18-under. For further information, go to www.downstaterippers.com.

GOLF: The Paducah Knights of Columbus, Holy Rosary Council 1055 will host its 8th Annual Charity Golf Scramble at Drake Creek on July 19 at 7:30 a.m. It will be a four-person scramble and the entry fee is $260 per team which includes lunch. For further information call (270) 519-9990.

BASEBALL: The Kentucky Prospects 14U Elite Major baseball team will hold tryouts for the 2015 season at the former Lone Oak High School baseball field behind Hendron Lone Oak Elementary School on Bleich Rd. ( 2501 Marshall Ave.) Tryouts will begin on July 29 at 6 p.m. and will continue on August 2 beginning at 10 a.m,.. Players may not turn 15 before April 30th. BASEBALL: Murray-Calloway Co. Parks are hosting two upcoming youth baseball tournaments in Murray for all-star and travel teams. The 15th Annual West Ky. Invitational is July 25-27 and the 13th Annual Back to School Bash is August 1-3. The tournaments are open for age divisions 7u through 17u. The WKI is an unsanctioned event and the BTSB is USSSA sanctioned. Entry fee is $150 for machine pitch (7u and 8u) and $175 for all other divisions. TENNIS: The Paducah Tennis Association will hold a free, ages 18 and older Tennis Play Day on August 2, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Chad Gamble Tennis Courts.  The USTA KY board of directors, plus PTA volunteers, will be on site to give instruction to new and beginning players and to provide instruction and play for adults coming back to the game.

TENNIS: On August 1, the USTA board will host a town hall meeting with refreshments, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Paducah Tilghman High School. The public is invited.  For more information about tennis opportunities, friend Paducah Tennis Association or Paducah Junior Tennis on Facebook.

FOOTBALL: Graves County Middle School will hold its first football practice for all incoming seventh graders who want to play. It takes place at the middle school football field at 5 p.m. on July 16. Prospective players are asked to arrive at that field by 4:45 p.m.

FOOTBALL: Graves County Middle School eighth grade football practice begins at 5 p.m. on July 23, at the middle school football field. All incoming eighth graders interested in playing should be at the field by 4:45 p.m.

SOFTBALL: The Graves County Middle School softball team will hold its second round of tryouts soon. Any player who was listed from the first round and any new player who wants to try out should participate. Players need to bring their equipment and should wear pants appropriate for tryouts. SOFTBALL: Due to an overwhelming response for the McCracken County High School softball clinic there will now be a pre-registration on July 20 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Orthopedic Institute Spring Sports Facility at MCHS. The clinic will still run from 6-9 p.m. July 22-23. The clinic is for grades 1-5. GOLF: The Ballard County Country Club will host its annual Drakes and Hens couples tournament on July 26-27. Entry fee is $100, which includes lunch both days, practice round the week before the tournament and range balls. For further information, call the pro shop at 270-665-5557.

GOLF: The Oaks Country Club will host the Calloway County Charity Golf Scramble on September 18. It will be a four-person scramble with an entry fee of $60 per person or $240 per team. For further information, call 270-753-6454.

GOLF: The Ballard County Country Club's Ladies Golf Association will host a ladies invitational tournament on August 12 at 9 a.m. This is individual play and the entry fee is $30.  For further information, call the BCCC proshop at 270-665-5557 or Barbara Chandler at 270-334-3166.

BASKETBALL: Calloway County High School's new head boys basketball coach Terry Birdsong has announced the dates for this summer's Laker Basketball Camp. The dates are July 21-24 from 4:00 to 6:30 pm. Registration will be on July 21 starting at 3:15 pm. The cost of the camp is $45. This camp will be run by the Laker coaching staff and current team members. The camp is open for students entering grades 2-9. Each camper will receive a camp t-shirt. For more information call 270-293-7744.

GOLF: Calvert City Country Club will host a United States Junior Golf Tour tournament this Thursday and Friday.  It is an 18-hole event for boys and girls grades 1-4 and 36 holes for grades 5-12.  All USJGT events are eligible for AJGA Performance Based Entry status.  For more information, visit www.usjgt.net

SOFTBALL: The Trigg County Youth Athletic Association is hosting their third annual Summer Swat recreational league softball tournament July 10-12 in Cadiz. This tournament is geared for all-star and recreation league softball teams. There will be a tournament for U8 (machine pitch), U10 (machine pitch), and U13 live pitch. TENNIS: The Paducah Tennis Association will hold a four-week, adult-beginner clinic followed by four weeks of match play. The clinic will take place at the Chad Gamble Tennis Center at Paducah Tilghman High School from 9:30-11 a.m. The clinic dates are July 12 and 19. The match play dates are TBA. SOCCER: Graves County High School girls' soccer practice begins July 15. Girls who will attend GCHS during the 2014-15 school year who are interested in trying out for the soccer team but are not yet team members should email the head coach at Mickey.McCuiston@graves.kyschools.us or phone him at (630) 561-0203.

FOOTBALL: Graves County students who will be in grades K-6 for the 2014-15 school year can attend the Future Eagle Football Camp free-of-charge between 5-8 p.m. July 21, and Aug. 1, at the Graves County High School football field. Eagle head coach Lance Gregory leads the camp staff. All campers get a free camp tee-shirt. Snacks and water will be provided as well. Campers may preregister by mail or on the first day of camp. Liability and release forms must be signed the first day of camp. Parents and guardians must be on-site to sign their children into camp both days. Registration forms are available from Gregory and his staff. Forms may be submitted in advance. To learn more, contact a GCHS football player or coach or phone (270) 328-6242.
