Sexes face off at Twin Oaks Lakes

Staff report

The Kentucky Lake Ski Nuts will host a battle-of-the-sexes slalom meet at Twin Oaks Lakes this weekend. Ordinary Joes vs. Bikini Pros will be the first-ever professional water skiing event to pit women against men in a head-to-head format.

The finals will he held in a night skiing "ski-off" under the lights on the north lake at the Oaks Road site. Temporary stadium lighting will light up the entire north side of the ski facility on Friday and Saturday nights.

Among the female skiers competing will be Florida's Regina Jaquess, the current women's record holder in slalom, and North Carolina's April Coble, the fourth-ranked women's slalom skier. Louisiana's Chad Scott, a former U.S. Men's Masters Champion, and Ohio's Mason Mechler, one of the world's top Men 1 slalom skiers, will be among the men competing.

Head-to-head elimination rounds will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday with the finals scheduled from 9 to 11.
