Traffic resumes in LBL with finish of road maintenance

Staff report

GOLDEN POND - Land Between The Lakes has re-opened Forest Service Roads 130, 108 and 134 to the public following temporary maintenance closures.

The Federal Highways Administration completed construction of a new bridge over Smith Creek on Newby Cemetery Road (FS Rd 130). The new bridge provides access to fishing, hunting, cemetery visitation, open lands management, hiking, camping, driving and wildlife viewing.

Bridge design and construction costs were funded by FHWA's Emergency Relief for Federally Owned Roads program, according to an LBL news release.

The new bridge is 64 feet long, 16 feet wide and constructed of precast structural slabs.

FHWA also finished replacing large culverts on FS Road 108 to Demumbers Bay and FS Road 134 to Energy Lake.
