-- Staff report

Michelle McKamey, a freshman at McCracken County, added another title to her portfolio this past weekend by winning two championships at the 2014 Joe Creason Tennis Tournament in Louisville from May 24-26.

She was one of many local athletes who participated.

McKamey, who just won the KHSAA State Tennis Singles championship, won the girls 16s singles title by beating top-seed Grace Jennings of Louisville, 6-1, 6-4.

McKamey then teamed up with Caroline Cox of Louisville to win the girls 16s double championship over Macie Ferguson of Russell and Kirestin Hensley of Ashland.

Vincent Shiben, a freshman at McCracken County, and Caleb Buckman also brought home hardware by winning the boys 14s doubles over Robert Krick of Ashland and Spencer Criss of Versailles.

Sophia Shiben advanced to the semifinals of the girls 12s singles division and with partner Natalie Chou of Louisville advanced to the semifinals of girls 12s doubles.

Other area athletes who played were Will Gaines, Abby Gaines, Logan McKinney, Davis Rowton, Parker Rowton, Isabella McKinney, Anna West and Emily West.

On Saturday Tommy Hagan, a sophomore at McCracken County and the 2014 First Region Boys Singles champ, will compete in the quarterfinals of the boys 16s singles and Vincent Shiben will do the same in the boys 14 singles.
