Tornado shuts down old rivals Mayfield

At Mayfield, Paducah Tilghman shut out Mayfield 4-0 by scoring two runs in the top of the second and single runs in the top of the fifth and seventh on Saturday in high school baseball.

The Blue Tornado scored their two runs in the top of the second with two outs when Matt Moore scored from third with the bases loaded when Nick Schumaker was walked. Jeremiah White was then hit by a pitch and that scored Drew Lastinger from third to make it 2-0.

Miles Bulter (2-0) got the win for Tilghman.

Softball

Paducah Tilghman 5, Pinkneyville (Ill.) 4; Paducah Tilghman 2, Goreville (Ill.) 1 - At Sheppard Field, Paducah Tilghman won two games against teams from Illinois on Saturday, beating Pinkneyville 5-4 and then Goreville 2-1.

Kayla Slagle pitched and won both games for Tilghman and improved her record to 7-3. Tilghman improved to 22-5 with the two victories.

Tilghman got one run in the bottom of the third to break a 4-4 tie with Pinkneyville. With two outs, Stephanie Sexton led off with a single and then stole second and third. She scored on Layne Morgan's base hit to left.

The Lady Blue Tornado won the game over Goreville in walk-off fashion by scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh. 

Shaelyn Tyler reached on an error at first and then took second when the ball went into the dugout. Caroline Robertson's single plated Tyler and tied the game at 1-all.

Robertson then stole third and Chantell Driver brought her in with a single to win the game
