Tornado breaks even with McCracken

Staff report

In the first inning, Miles Butler had an RBI single and Caleb Farley sacrificed another run in as Paducah Tilghman avenged an earlier home loss by downing McCracken County 2-0 at Edward Jones Field on Tuesday in high school baseball.

Jacob Underhill struck out nine Mustangs and walked none for the win. Cole Womack fanned five Tornado batters and walked three in the loss. The pitchers belted the only doubles in the game.

Carlisle 11, Fulton City 2 - At Fulton, Ethan Weatherspoon was 3-for-5 with two RBI and pitched six solid innings in Carlisle County's win over First District foe Fulton City. Brett Stephens also had three hits for the Comets, while Michael Thomason stole five bases.

Crittenden 14, Lyon 7 - At Marion, up only 3-2 after three innings, Crittenden County scored nine runs on six hits in the bottom of the fourth to break away from Lyon County in this Fifth District encounter. Travis Gilbert was 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI for the Rockets, while teammate Brendan Phillips doubled twice.

Hickman 5, Fulton Co. 3 - At Clinton, Steven Allen's two-out double in the fifth inning drove in the two runs Hickman County needed to defeat Fulton County in a First District showdown. Billy Speed doubled twice for the Falcons and pitched the final four innings to get the win in relief. Will Thompson had both hits for the Pilots.

Toni Fehrenbacher homered twice for the Marshals, driving in five runs, on top of earning her eighth victory of the season.

Livingston Central 10, Trigg County 0 (6 inn.) - At Smithland, Livingston Central cruised to a 10-0 win over Trigg County in six innings Tuesday.

The Lady Cardinals were paced by pitcher Caitlin Merritt, who struck out 15 and walked none in the victory.

Livingston Central scored three in the bottom of the first, then tacked on four in the bottom of the fourth, one in the bottom of the sixth and won it with two in the bottom of the sixth.

For the Lady Cardinals, Emily Dalton went  4-for-4 with 2 RBIs, Hailee Lampley went 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs, and Tiffany Padon went 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs.
