Tilghman tops St. Mary to stay undefeated

Paducah Tilghman improved to 7-0 on the high school softball season with a 5-3 win over St. Mary on Thursday.

The Lady Tornado led 3-0 after four innings, but St. Mary tied the game with a run in the fifth and two in the sixth.

In the sixth Lexi Carter hid a lead-off double for the Lady Vikings. After two outs Ashley Dunn hit a single that scored Carter, then Hanna Lurtz hit a triple to score Dunn.

The Lady Tornado scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Starting pitcher Karlee Humphrey helped her cause with a lead-off home run. Tilghman added an insurance run and shut St. Mary down in the seventh to remain unbeaten.

Lyon 16, Carlisle 11 - At Eddyville, After giving up 10 runs to Carlisle County in the top of the fourth, Lyon County scored 10 of its own in the bottom of the sixth to win this slugfest. Kacie Freeman was 4 for 5 for the Lyons.

Livingston 12, Crittenden 0 - At Marion, Tiffany Padon was a hit shy of a perfect game and Jennifer Head was a single shy of the cycle in Livingston Central's drubbing of Fifth District rival Crittenden County.

Padon had retired 14 consecutive batters when Kiana Nesbitt reached first on a bunt. Head was 3 for 4 with four RBI on a double, a triple and a two-run homer in the third. Tabby Padon was 2 for 3 with two RBI for the Cardinals.

Century 5, Paducah Tilghman 4 - Paducah Tilghman dropped its first baseball game of the season to Century High School of Ullin, Ill., in a game shortened to five innings because of rain.

The visiting Centurions plated four runs in the second inning to take a 5-0 lead. The Tornado rallied to within one but could get no closer before the game was called.

Jeremiah White had three RBI for Tilghman; Adam Jones was 2 for 3 with an RBI for Century.

Crittenden 12, Livingston 2 - At Marion, Crittenden County's battery proved quite powerful in a Fifth District win over Livingston Central in six innings. Adam Driver, the Rockets' starting pitcher, drove in two runs on three singles and struck out four in four innings.

Brendan Phillips, Crittenden's catcher, was 2 for 4 with three RBI. Colton Ramage was 2 for 3 with both RBI for the Cardinals.
