Falcons top Cardinals in OT

Staff report

CLINTON - Hickman County held Mayfield to 3 points in the fourth quarter to rally for a tie and win 45-42 in overtime in boys basketball action from Friday.

In overtime, the Falcons' scoring came as Billy Speed sank three of his four free throw attempts; Ethan Carter and Harley Hinshaw scored their only points of the game.

Hinshaw's points came on a big 3-point basket from the top of the key with :02 remaining.

Speed scored a game-high 26 points to lead Hickman County. Haley Ballard led Mayfield with 15 and Taye Love chipped in 13.

CCA 53, Fulton City 42 - Up only one after three, visiting Community Christian closed out Fulton City with an 18-8 run through the fourth quarter. Tineal Robinson was the lead Warrior with 16 points, and Tanner Schroeder was close behind with 15. Blake Roach topped the Bulldogs with 15 points.

Massac 63, West Frankfort 55 - At Metropolis, eight seniors were honored as Massac County clinched the Ohio Division of the River-to-River Conference with a win over West Frankfort on Senior Night Friday.

Dalton Mitchell led the Patriots with 16 points; Jalen Roundtree and Kyle Reinwald each netted 13.

Hunter Johnson paced the Redbirds with a game-high 22.

Lyon 62, Hopkins Central 61 - At Eddyville, Barrett Blackburn nailed a 3-pointer with three seconds to go to lift Lyon County over Hopkins County Central on Friday night. Blackburn led the way with 18 points with Jill P'Poole close behind with 17 for the Lady Lyons, who trailed by 13 at the half. Lacera Campbell topped the Lady Storm with 21 points.

Alexis Burpo topped the Lady Falcons with 15 points.
