Carlisle's run leads to CCA's downfall

Carlisle County led Community Christian Academy by a single point at half-time but opened the third quarter by scoring eight straight points, aided by three steals, and took control for a 65-49 victory over the Warriors in Saturday's boys basketball.

Paxton Crier and Ethan Weatherspoon each scored 19 to lead the Comets; Noah Norsworthy added 14. Cole Smith scored 14 for the Warriors; Tineal Robinson and Braden Smith each added 10. Robinson also collected 12 rebounds.

GIRLS

Massac 67, Murphysboro 54 - At Metropolis, Massac County opened up an early lead against Murphysboro ,then had to rally from behind to tie the game at the end of three quarters. The Lady Patriots then ran away in the fourth.

Emily Hoard led Massac with 28 points; Jessie Douglas and Gracyn McBride each scored 10. Aimee Rafael led the Lady Red Devils with 21; Johnna Hines and Jasmine Frazier each tallied 14.

The win assures the Lady Patriots at least a share of the River-to-River Conference Ohio Division title.
