As a kid, it could be hard to start out in a new activity or sport without the fear of embarrassment, but one local organization is taking the hesitancy out of the equation completely.
Murray In Motion is hosting a “Try-Athon” for Calloway County children and their families to try several new sports and activities in a non-competitive atmosphere. Activities include football, soccer, disc golf, yoga, gymnastics, badminton, running and more. The event will last from 10 a.m. to noon March 10, in Racer Arena on Murray State University’s campus.
A collaboration of various organizations in Calloway County, Murray In Motion seeks to promote physical activity, educate and increase awareness of health issues.
“There are so many opportunities for families to improve their health and get active, but many of our residents don’t know how to access that information,” said Amy Ferguson, health educator for the Calloway County Health Department and chairperson of Murray In Motion. “Our goal is to establish a website that is easy to navigate in which any organization can list their healthy community activities.”
