PRINCETON — William “Slugger” McKnight, 72, of Princeton died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville. 

He was a retired driver for Hudson Trucking and a member of Highland Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Jones McKnight; two stepsons, Steward Newberry of Princeton and Gary Lee Travis of Texas; one stepgranddaughter; one stepgrandson; two brothers, Doug Green of Princeton and Dickie Green of Caldwell County; four sisters, Sue Prince and Corinne Gilkey, both of Caldwell County, Edith McKinney of Princeton, and Charlene Towery of Florence; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathy Lynn McKnight Hardgrove; one stepdaughter; one brother; and one sister. His parents were Nelson McKnight Jr. and Mattie Elizabeth Pruett McKnight Orten.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at Morgan’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Castleberry Church Cemetery in Christian County. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Tuesday until the hour of service at the funeral home.
