William Culkin Sr.
TAMMS, Ill. — William Anthony Culkin Sr., 65, of St. Louis, formerly of Thebes, died at 4:15 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2013, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
He was a riverboat captain with Southern Towing Company and had served as chief with the U. S. Navy Reserves.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Berry) Culkin; one son, William Anthony Culkin Jr. of St. Louis; two brothers, Robert “Robbie” Culkin of Olive Branch and Clyde Culkin of Texas; five sisters, Agnes Ghiglione of Mount Zion, Sarah Dunn of Collinsville, Claire DeLashmutt of Jonesboro, Brenda Calvert of Olive Branch, and Susie Ozment of Kansas City, Mo., and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Patrick Culkin; a brother, and his stepfather, Clifford Carl “Bud” Phillips.
His parents were Robert William Culkin and Ora Mae (Bledsoe) Culkin.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms with James Ghiglione officiating. Interment will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge, with military honors.
Friends may call between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2013, at the funeral home.
