METROPOLIS, Ill. — Wilfred Horntrop, age 101, of Metropolis, Ill., passed away at 7:15 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at the Zion United Church of Christ. Dr. James D. Nelson will officiate. Burial will follow in the St. John’s Church Cemetery.
Wilfred was a lifelong farmer and his hobby was woodworking. He specialized in Grandfather clocks. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and always had a smile and a greeting for everyone friend or stranger.
He is survived by his sister, Frieda Koch of Metropolis, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edd and Alvena (Busclas) Horntrop, and his wife of 69 years, Ruth (Wehrmeyer) Horntrop.
Visitation will held on Thursday, June 6, 2013, from 10 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Zion United Church of Christ.

Music will be provided by Connie Hefner, organist/pianist, and Steve and Norma Korte, soloists.
Pallbearers will be Alan Schaffer, Marvin Eckenberg, Jerry Windhorst, David Gragg, Jerry Gentry and Monte Bremer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Bormann and Eugene Stratemeyer.
Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis is in charge of arrangements.
