Wicey Sims Crawford, 92, of Paducah, passed away at 7:37 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Culpepper Place of Paducah. Wicey was born in Toomsuba, Miss. She worked for the University of Mississippi in Administration.
Wicey was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church. She enjoyed shopping, loved dogs, and enjoyed playing bridge. Wicey will be remembered by many for her beautiful Mississippi accent which she never lost.
Wicey is survived by her sons, Dr. Keith H. Crawford and wife Jan of Paducah, Larry F. Crawford and wife Vickie of Memphis, Tenn.; sister, Marcia Fay “Peanut” Lathrop of Lafayette, Calif. with whom she shared many wonderful years; grandchildren, Dr. Adam Crawford and wife Dr. Karmen Crawford of Madison, Miss., Todd B. Crawford of Chicago, and Sean E. Crawford of Memphis, Tenn.; one great-grandchild, Mason L. Crawford of Madison, Miss.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Dr. Frank B. Crawford, Jr.; son, Frank B. “Sunny” Crawford, III; and two brothers, Horace Woods Sims & Silas “Billy” Sims. Her parents were Silas David Sims and Beatrice Virgie Woods Sims.
Private family memorial services will be conducted. There will be no visitation.
Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah is in charge of arrangements.
The family would like to thank the staff at Culpepper Place, her Physician and his staff, and her sitters for all their loving care that they gave to Wicey and especially to Lourdes Hospice for all their loving care and support that they gave to Wicey and the family in the last few weeks.
