Mr. and Mrs. Walter West of Somerset announce the engagement of their daughter, Whitney Allison West, to Timothy Alexander Berry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Berry of Wickliffe.

Miss West is the granddaughter of Tom and Vanessa Swetnam of Somerset, and the late Henry and Gladys West. She is a 2006 graduate of Pulaski County High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in communication disorders in 2010 from Eastern Kentucky University. She is pursuing a master’s degree in speech language pathology from Murray State University.

Mr. Berry is the grandson of Richard and Marilyn Puls of Lyons, N.Y., and Dr. Nicholas Berry of Newark, N.Y., and the late Diane Berry, and Geraldine Baker of Rochester, N.Y. He is a 2005 graduate of Ballard County High School and a 2010 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in construction management. He is employed by A&K Construction in Paducah.

Wedding vows will be exchanged at 2 p.m. Aug. 6 at First Baptist Church in Somerset.
