HICKORY — Walter E. Lynn, 89, of Hickory died at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Mills Health and Rehabilitation Facility.

He was a retired custodian from Lowes High School and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by one son, Walter Lynn Jr. of Hickory, and one sister, Martha Payton of Chicago.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Louise Lynn. His parents were Cornelius and Bertha Skaggs Lynn.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Brown Funeral Home in Mayfield with the Rev. Ronnie Stinson, Sr. officiating.

Burial will follow in Shelton Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
