HARDIN — Velma J. Baker, 85, of Hardin, passed away Friday, September 28, 2012, at Lourdes hospital in Paducah.

She was a homemaker and a member of Olive Baptist Church.

She was the daughter of the late Hallie Johnson and the late Lola (Jones) Johnson.

She is survived by one son, Ronnie Baker of Hardin; one daughter, Sandra Moore and husband Walter of Hardin; one brother, Howard Johnson of Benton; two sisters, Thema Burkeen of Hardin and Mary Redden of Murray; sister-in-law, Shelia Baker of Hardin; seven grandchildren, Chad Baker and wife Beth of Paducah, Justin Baker of Murray, Zachary Baker and wife Jaclyn of Clarksville, Tenn., Chris Moore and wife Dedria of Benton, Jennie Cope and husband Chris of Benton, Benji Moore of Hardin, and Josh Moore and wife Stacy of Benton; eleven great-grandchildren, Peyton Baker, Camille Baker, Casey Moore, Billie Moore, Ty Moore, Clint Cope, Kaylee Cope, Riley Moore, McKinley Moore, Ava Moore, and Claire Moore.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Baker; one son, Danny Baker; one brother, James Johnson; one sister, Marjorie Hopkins; and one great-grandchild, Caleb Baker.

Arrangements are being handled by Collier Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2012. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, October 1, 2012, at Collier Funeral Chapel.

Rev. Curtis Harrell and Rev. Chris Moore will be officiating. Interment will be at Unity Cemetery in Hardin.
