KENANSVILLE, N.C. — Mr. Terry Lee Burkeen, 58, of 132 Williamson Street, Kenansville, N.C., formerly of Clinton, N.C., died Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Vidant Healthcare in Greenville, N.C.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home with the Reverend Mark Fisher officiating.

Mr. Burkeen, born in Marshall County, Kentucky, was the son of the late Jess Burkeen and Leona Dismore Burkeen and was the husband of Cecilia Hall Burkeen. He was the retired owner/operator of B&B Tree and Landscape Company.

Mr. Burkeen was predeceased in death by his brothers, William Burkeen, Cleatus Burkeen and Cecil Burkeen, and sisters, Joy Darnell and Betty Ryan.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Cecilia Hall Burkeen of the home; his children, Matthew Franklin Burkeen and wife Shauna of Benton, Ky., LeeAnn VanMetre and husband Brian of Calvert City, Ky., Laura Mathis and husband Anthony of Clinton, N.C., and Jennifer Williams of Clinton, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Ben Burkeen, Brady Burkeen, Brandon VanMetre, Peyton VanMetre, Savanna Mathis, Sidney Mathis and Aiden McElven; his brothers, Jerry Burkeen, Donnie Burkeen, Tommy Burkeen, John Burkeen, Jiggs Burkeen; his sisters, Faye Hendrickson, Gladis Devine and Hazel Peck, and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home and other times at the home.

The family would like to send a special thank you to his doctors, Dr. Chad Kornegay, Dr. Jon Kornegay and staff at Vidant Duplin Hospital and Dr. Jacobs and staff at Vidant Heart Health Institute.
