GILBERTSVILLE — Sue Green, 75, of Gilbertsville, passed away at 3:18 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2012, at Calvert City Convalescent Center.

She was a member of Lakeland Baptist Temple and enjoyed singing Sunday morning specials with her loving husband of 57 years, Dan Thomas Green. She retired after 32 years of service from KY Dam Village Inn State Park, where she worked as a waitress. She loved serving and getting to attend many political events, Derby breakfasts and met many governors. She always said, “It was hard work, but loved having these opportunities.” She was also very proud to be a Kentucky Colonel. She loved traveling and meeting new people, she never met a stranger. She always had a smile and a positive outlook on life. She also enjoyed decorating the house and cooking for her family. She held a very special place in her heart for her daughter, two granddaughters, and of course her pampered poodle, Rusty. She was a loving, and caring wife, mother and “Granny” and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by one daughter, Vicky Hammond and her husband Jeff of Owensboro, Ky.; two granddaughters, Jennifer Key and her husband Nathan of Bowling Green, Ky. and Emily Anne Hammond of Birmingham, Ala.; and one great-granddaughter, Lana Key. She is also survived by one sister, Lois Holland; and one brother, Lawrence Harris.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dan “Tom” Green; her parents, Ira L. Harris and Nellie Langston Harris; one sister, Neeta “Nita” Henson; and one brother, Robert “Rabbit” Harris.

We would like to thank everyone at Calvert City Convalescent Center for all of your kindness, and loving care that mom received during her illness.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 11, 2012, at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home and Crematory. The Rev. Bob McClain will officiate and burial will follow at Marshall County Memory Gardens. Friends and family may visit from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home and Crematory.
