John and Laura Stinson of Hickory announce the engagement of their daughter, Shelby Layne Stinson, to Jeffrey Alan Long, son of Mike and Teresa Zeiss of Paducah, and David and Rhonda Long of Benton.

Miss Stinson is the granddaughter of Linda Bryant of Mayfield and the late Freddie Bryant, the late Ruth Stinson Haley and the late Earl Stinson. She is a 2006 graduate of Graves County High School in Mayfield and is a 2013 candidate for graduation from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy with a doctor of pharmacy degree. She is an alumna of Sigma Kappa sorority and is employed by Kroger Pharmacy in Owensboro.

Mr. Long is the grandson of Jimmie and Sharon Ellington of Boaz, Barbara Long of Hickory and the late Harold Long. He is a 2002 graduate of Graves County High School in Mayfield, a 2006 graduate of Murray State University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and a 2008 graduate of Minnesota State University with a master ‘s degree in political science. He is pursuing a doctorate degree in political science from the University of Tennessee and is employed as a coordinator for Housing and Residence Life at Western Kentucky University.

Wedding vows will be exchanged at 1 p.m. March 9 in Nashville, Tenn.
