Stanley Miles “Papa” Kauffman, 72, of Paducah, formerly a resident of Southern California for over 50 years, passed away Monday, September 3, 2012, at Western Baptist Hospital.
Stanley was born September 11, 1939, in Auburn, Wash. He served as a security and communications expert in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War in Berlin and Turkey. He received his degree in electrical engineering from NIT in Los Angeles, California. He retired as an electrical engineer with General Electric, working overseas in Mexico, Czech Republic, the oil sands of Alberta, Canada, Trinidad and Poland. He was a true outdoorsman, enjoying hiking and kayaking, flower gardening and photography.
Stanley is survived by his family whom he loved dearly: his wife of 52 years, Connie Karlay King Kauffman; two daughters, Capulan Kiva-Milynn Gurrola and husband Ben of Paducah and Tenaya Khia-Jarmain Barrios and husband Jesus of Paducah; seven grandchildren, Cambria Goodman and husband Aaron, Lexi Chapman and husband Sam, Hunter Gurrola, Trystan Gurrola, Kaelan Barrios, Brenden Barrios and Kaliska Barrios; his sister, Betty Thompson and husband Leon of Juno, Alaska; and his cat, “Baby.”
He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Harold and Evelyn “Oma” Jarmain Kauffman; and a sister, Georgia Ann Meador.
Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 2012, at Heartland Worship Center Choir Room with memorial visitation beginning at 4 p.m. A reception will follow at the Gurrola home.
Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah is in charge of arrangements.
It was Stanley’s wish that in lieu of any flowers, a monetary donation be made to the advancement of clean water in Uganda. Contributions may be made to Beyond Uganda, 1400 Husbands Road, Paducah, KY 42003.
