LINCOLN, Neb. — Shirley J. Callender, 76, Lincoln, Neb., died Friday, March 29, 2013.
Born June 24, 1936, in Kuttawa, Kentucky, to Edward Lee and Janie Katherine (Jackson) Scott. She was a retired typist for the State of Nebraska Department of Roads. After retirement she worked for Great Clips. She was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 3. An avid gardener, Shirley loved to travel and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She was an outstanding wife and mother of five and a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, always supportive of her children.
Survived by her daughter, Micra Callender, Lees Summit, Mo.; sons, Jack (Jayne) Callender Jr., Omaha, Danny Callender, Lincoln, Keith (Michelle) Callender, Denver, Colo., and Terry (Beth) Callender, Lincoln; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Kathy Scott, Richland, Ind.
Preceded in death by parents, husband Jack, brothers Carlton and Thomas Scott.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2013, Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ St.
