Couple met at Army reunion, get married

Jeneva Northrup of St. Francis, Kan., and Roy Duncan of Paducah, Ky., were married on August 16, 2011, at the First Christian Church in St. Francis, Kan., with Pastor Jeff Landers officiating. Their attendents were Bert and Nancy Follett of St. Francis.

Roy and Jeneva met at the farm of General George S. Patton called “Green Meadows,” in August 2008 when they were attending the annual reunion of the 11th Armored Division.

General Patton’s daughter- in-law, Joanne Patton, had invited all the 11th Armored Division veterans and their guests to visit the farm which General Patton had bought near Boston, Mass., and where he had planned to retire.

The 11th Armored Division was part of Patton’s Third Army which fought at the Battle of the Bulge and liberated two concentration camps, Mauthausen and Gusen in World War II.

Jeneva’s husband, Warren, was also a member of the 11th Armored Division and was wounded during the Battle of Bulge for which he was awarded a Purple Heart and a Silver Star for Gallantry in action.

Roy and Jeneva were married on the third anniversary of the day they met in Boston.

They will live part of the time in St.Francis and part of the time in Paducah where Roy was born and raised.
