KEVIL — Roberta Tarry, 98, of Kevil, formerly of Murray passed away at 6:55 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at Western Baptist Hospital.
Mrs. Tarry was truly one of God’s saints. She was known for her love of Jesus and wanted everyone to know about him. She believed in the scripture “pray without ceasing.” She always encouraged those she came in contact with. Earth’s loss is Heaven’s gain.
Mrs. Tarry was actively involved in the Murray Art Guild, and she taught art classes. She was a member of Olivet Baptist Church, was a former member of Murray First Baptist Church for 70 years, where she taught Sunday School for almost 50 years.
She is survived by her son, Charles (Chuck) Tarry of Kevil; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Tarry Crowe and husband John of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Joe Eugene Tarry IV of Stock Bridge, Georgia, Stephen Michael Tarry and wife Robbie of Kevil, Jennifer Lee Bates and husband Mark of Kevil; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Eugene Tarry; her son, Dr. Joe Eugene Tarry III, and one daughter-in-law, Theresia Tarry. Her parents were Luther Clarence and Beulah Copeland Puckett.
Funeral services for Mrs. Tarry will be 12:00 noon Saturday, December 22, 2012, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Tommy Tucker officiating. Burial will follow at Murray City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2012, at the funeral home.
