BENTON — Robert William Casey, 71, of Benton, went home to be with his Lord Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at 7:50 p.m.
Bob was a native of Centralia, Ill., and lived in Florida, Tennessee, and Kentucky throughout his life. A graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School, he worked in the energy and power industry as an operator with the Shawnee Steam Plant. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was a member of Sanctuary Church Of God in Fairdealing, a real “people person” who loved sharing his faith with others. Bob was a Petty Officer Seaman in the United States Navy, serving on a blockade ship during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sharon Johnston Casey of Benton; one daughter, Rebecca Bowlin and husband Jerry of Mayfield; one stepdaughter, Andrea Sexton and husband Craig of Paducah; two sons, David Casey of Clarksville, Tenn., and Matthew Casey and wife Rosemarie of Paducah; one stepson, Tyler Winslow and his wife Jackie of Cape Coral, Fla.; three sisters, Marjo C. Vancil and husband Leon, Annalee C. O’Donley, and Elaine Oehlschlaeger and husband John, all of Paducah; one sister-in-law, Shirley Casey; one brother, Walter “Mike” Casey and wife Sandy of Denver, Colo.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by one brother, T. Paul Casey; and his parents, Thorton Casey and Marjorie Sherwood Casey.
Funeral services for Mr. Casey will be held Sunday, December 30, 2012, at the Lone Oak Chapel Of Milner & Orr Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Albert Gaboriault officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Mt. Kenton Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon until service time.
