G. Robert Olson, 67, of Murray, died Sunday at Murray-Calloway County Hospital.

He worked for Tennessee Valley Authority, was a member of The National Recreation and Park Association, board member of The National Society of Park Resources, and board member of Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; three daughters, Katye Guess, Kellye Steele, and Kari Balkey; one son, Geoffrey Ball; five grandchildren, Connor Steele, Chandler Steele, Jordan Balkey, Taylor Balkey, and Cory Balkey; a sister, Ingrid Olson of Waco, Texas, and a brother, Ed Olson of Houston.

His parents were Gustav Robert Olson Sr., and Frances Olson.

A private memorial will be held in Texas when the bluebonnets bloom.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Heritage Family Funeral Home in Murray.
