DEDHAM, Mass. — A funeral for Robert Darwin Whiting, 65, of Dedham, Mass., formerly Paducah, Ky., will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday July 9, 2013, at Robert J. Lawler and Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre Street, West Roxbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Holy Name Church, West Roxbury, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Mr. Whiting died suddenly Wednesday, July 3, 2013.
Born December 24, 1947, in Rapid City, South Dakota, Mr. Whiting lived in Paducah, Kentucky, for almost 30 years.
He was a 1969 graduate of Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, with an accounting degree, master’s in accountancy; 1965 graduate of Red Cloud High School in Pine Ridge, South Dakota; U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Whiting was a true entrepreneur and exemplary father and husband. He enjoyed playing golf with his son, cooking for his friends and family, and reading to his grandson.
Mr. Whiting was a beloved husband of his wife of 44 years, Rosann (Shellenberg); loving father of Andrew Jeremiah Whiting and his wife Heidi Schmid Whiting of Chicago, Illinois; cherished Papa of Roy Robert Whiting; devoted brother of Annette Moore of Texas, Gloria Valdez of Kansas, Lawrence Whiting of Alaska, Joseph Whiting of South Dakota, and Clifford Whiting of South Dakota. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2013, at the funeral home.
