CALVERT CITY — Robert “Bob” Earl Raymond, 86, of Calvert City died Saturday, February 2, 2013, at 7:35 a.m. at Calvert City Convalescent Center in Calvert City.
He served in the Army during World War II, where his platoon was the first to land in Japan after the atomic nuclear bombing. After his military service, he graduated from college with a degree in engineering. He retired from Shawnee Plastics in Kuttawa as V.P. of Engineering. He was also a member of Calvert City V.F.W. Post.
He is survived by his loving wife, Julia “Judy” Ann Burton Raymond of Calvert City; five daughters, Yolanda and husband Paul Sowders of Evansville, Ind., Karen and husband Dennis Raider of Fort Branch, Ind., Pam Blackburn of Eddyville, Cheryl and husband Tim Schurmeir of Princeton, Ind., and Denise and husband Jerry Clements of Evansville, Ind.; a stepdaughter, Sarah and husband Maxie Lee of Calvert City; one brother, Richard and wife Margaret Sanford of Evansville, Ind.; 11 grandchildren, Brian Foronda, Justin Woodall, Nikki Kissner, Melissa Liddle, Kimberly Schurmeier, Mark Schurmeier, Kelsey Schurmeier, Rylei Clements, Karlei Clements, Elizabeth Mohr, Christopher Williamson; and two great-grandchildren, Derrick Foronda and Clint Woodall.
He is preceded in death by his father, Earl Raymond; and his mother and stepfather, Valeda Eichele and Edwin Goebel.
Funeral service will be at Collier Funeral Chapel at 1 p.m., Wednesday, February 6, 2013, with the Rev. Thomas Williams officiating. Burial will be at Calvert City Cemetery in Calvert City. Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at Collier Funeral Home in Benton.
