CALVERT CITY — Richard E. Nash, 73, of Calvert City died Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at his home.

He was born June 28, 1939, in Owensboro, Ky. He was the son of the late William Edison Nash and the late Mable Speak Nash.

He was a retired City Administrator of Calvert City and continued to serve the city as a member of the Planning Commission for several years after his retirement. Mr. Nash was also employed by the cities for Murray, Princeton and Paducah.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1964 to 1967. He was a graduate of Murray State University and University of Southwest Louisiana. He served as president of the Kentucky City Managers Association from 1997 to 1999.

Mr. Nash attended Calvert City United Methodist Church and served on the Board of Trustees for a short time before his illness.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kay (Williams) Nash of Calvert City; two sons, Jordan Edison Nash of New Orleans, La., and Ian Alexander Nash of Draffenville, Ky.; two brothers, William (Linda) Nash of Grand Rivers, Ky., and Jeffrey (Jeanne) Nash of Paducah, Ky.; one aunt, Beatrice Worthington of Jacksonville, Fla.; three nephews; two nieces; three great-nephews; and two great-nieces.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 24, 2012, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., at the Collier Funeral Home in Benton. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 25, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Calvert City United Methodist Church, Rev. Eddie Bromley and Mayor Lynn Jones officiating. Friends may call at 1 p.m. at the church.

Donations may be made to the Calvert City United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or to Lourdes Hospice.
