BENTON — Services for Raven Byron Shemwell, 88, of Benton will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Collier Funeral Chapel in Benton with the Rev. Rodney Wallace and the Rev. David Brasher officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mr. Shemwell died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Marshall County Hospital in Benton.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II, and worked in Civilian Conservation Corps camps. He retired from Pennwalt and was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia Louise Reeder Shemwell; one son, Doug Shemwell of Benton; and one sister, Freda Wyatt of Benton.

He was preceded in death by three sisters. His parents were Byron Shemwell and Roda Brewer Shemwell.
