Patricia (“Pat”) Pinney Flynn, of Paducah, died Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at Lourdes hospital. Pat was born May 2, 1936, in Lexington to Jane Allen and Paul Martin Pinney, now deceased. Also preceded in death was her only sibling, Paul Martin Pinney II.
Pat is survived by her husband of 56 years, James (Jim) W. Flynn; two sons, James (Russ) W. Flynn II (wife, Lynda) and Thomas Martin Flynn, all of Paducah; three grandchildren, Katherine Allen Flynn of Nashville, Tenn., Chelsea Patterson Flynn of Louisville, and James Corbett Flynn of Paducah; one nephew, David William Pinney of Brentwood, Md.; and one niece, Dr. Antonia Ferrari-Pinney of Newark, N.J.
In Lexington, Pat was very active with the Junior League of Lexington where she was chairperson of the Junior League Horse Show. Also, she was active in Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority while attending the University of Kentucky and years later where she mentored future Kappa Kappa Gamma young ladies.
Pat and her family moved to Paducah in 1972 where she became active in the First Presbyterian Church as an elder and The Women of the Church. She was owner of Choates Gifts until retirement in 2005. She was active in Four Seasons Garden Club for over 40 years and was President from 1994-1996. She also shared her love and expertise by becoming a wedding planner to assist many brides on their special day.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Mount Kenton Cemetery. A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Paducah. Don Barger will officiate. A time of visitation with the family in Memorial Hall will immediately follow. Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah is in charge of arrangements.
