METROPOLIS, Ill. — Mr. Nelson Waggoner, 70, of Elizabethtown, Ill., and Metropolis, Ill., passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2013, at I.O.O.F. cemetery in Elizabethtown, Ill. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
Nelson was born Feburary 27, 1943, in Rosiclare, Ill., to Abner T. and Robbie (Matthews) Waggoner. He was employed as the parts manager at Linwood Motors of Metropolis for 35 years. Lindell and Kathryn Eickholz, owners of Linwood Motors, their sons Jeff and Dr. Jim and their children were his second family.
Nelson was an avid Kentucky Wildcats and St. Louis Cardinal fan. He was a kind generous man who will be remembered for his many kindnesses and his friendly manner.
Nelson is survived by his two brothers, Russell Waggoner and wife Susan of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Floyd Waggoner and wife Bobbie of Carterville, Ill.; two nieces, Kim Zeller and husband Adam of Spring, Texas, and Monica Barnes and husband Lance of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; one nephew, Maj. Matthew Waggoner and wife Christy of Scott Air Force Base; and two great-nephews, Logan Waggoner and Benjamin Zeller.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held Sunday, May 5, 2013, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis, Ill.
