KEVIL — Nell DePriest, age 92, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013, at 11:18 a.m. at Life Care Center in La Center.
She was a longtime member of New Liberty United Methodist Church. She was a Duchess of Paducah.
Hillary Clinton may have written the book, “It Takes a Village”, but Nell Throgmorton DePriest lived it. After her mother, Maggie Reid Throgmorton, died giving birth to brother Paul (Throgmorton) Reid, all Reid and Throgmorton aunts and uncles helped her father, Clarence Lynn Throgmorton, raise Nell. Nell gained a wealth of knowledge and love from all her aunts, uncles, and cousins. After the remarriage of her father to Nellie Griffin Throgmorton, Nell’s love embraced newly added brother Billy Griffin. Later sister Lynn Throgmorton Almon joined this blended family. When Nell married the love of her life, W.F. DePriest, it would be a union that lasted for 68 years, full of love and laughter.
Dovie Bernell was born on February 22, 1921, to Maggie and Clarence Throgmorton.
Her survivors include daughters Faylynn and husband Jimmie Siress of Benton, Diana and husband Billy Gene Hook of Kevil; she is also survived by six grandchildren, Jeff and wife Margaret Siress of Kirksey, Robb and wife Margie Siress of Nashville, Brady and wife Tara Siress of Benton, Mindi Siress of Reidland, Jami and husband Joey Seaton of Kevil and Frankie Hook of Kevil; also surviving are her nine great-grandchildren, Maidie and Kiefer Siress of Kirksey, Trapper, Briar and Lily Siress of Nashville, Ben and Jonathan Siress of Benton and Steven and Shelby Seaton of Kevil. Nell is also survived by her sister, Lynn Almon of Paducah and family; her sister-in-law, Maguerite Griffin of West Paducah and family, and Sure Reid Nace of Paducah and family. Special survivors include her niece, Shirley Ford Simmons of Kevil and family; her cousins, Robert O. Lanier of Kevil and family, Emily Throgmorton of La Center and family, Faye Skaggs of Paducah and her two Marie’s and families; plus numerous cousins.
Nell was preceded in death by her loving husband, W.F. DePriest; her parents, Maggie Reid Throgmorton, Clarence Throgmorton, and Nellie Griffin Throgmorton; her brothers, Paul (Throgmorton) Reid and Billy Griffin; her sister, Reva Mae Throgmorton; and all her loving Reid and Throgmorton aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Morrow Funeral Chapel in Kevil, with the Rev. Randy Stacey officiating. Interment will follow at Palestine United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday morning after 10:30 a.m. at Morrow Funeral Chapel in Kevil.
