HICKORY — Mrs. Mary Jean Young, 61, of Hickory died Monday, June 24, 2013, at 11:10 p.m. at her residence.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a graduate of Murray State University with a B.S. in Mathematics and a Masters Degree in Guidance and Counseling. She was a retired Guidance Counselor of Graves County High School.
Mrs. Young is survived by her husband of 39 years, Dr. Mark Young; one son, Austin (Jessica) Young of Mayfield; one daughter, Allison (Dave) Starks of Madisonville; two brothers, David Williams and Hardy (Linda) Williams, both of Symsonia; one sister, Martha Kay Rickman of Mayfield; and two grandchildren, Houston Young of Mayfield, and Mary Grace Starks of Madisonville, Ky. She was preceded in death by her parents, Karel Williams and Grace (Green) Scott; and one grandchild.
Services for Mrs. Young will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Eric Riley officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield.
