KEVIL — Marjorie Holt O’Daniel, 89, of Kevil, Kentucky, passed away at 5:35 a.m., August 27, 2012, at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilatation Center. She was born in Alton, Illinois, July 21, 1923.
She owned her own beauty shop and ceramic shop. She also attended faithfully as a member of Newton Creek Baptist Church serving as a Sunday School teacher and a choir member.
Marjorie was a 50-year life member of Grahamville Chapter #494 Order of Eastern Star, served as Worthy Matron 5 different terms, Deputy Grand Matron, Grand Warder 87-88 of the Grand Chapter of Kentucky, was the Grand Representative to New Jersey for the Eastern Star, Ambassador of Goodwill to Eastern Star Home 91-92, and served on numerous committees. The organization KIPWAC was very dear to her serving as a vice-president and on the Board of Directors.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Hazel (Don) Jerrell of Kevil; one son, John M. (Charlotte) of Kevil; one grandson, Ken (Jamie) Jerrell of Kevil; one granddaughter, LaDonna (Steve) Plumley of Nashville, Tenn.; two great-grandchildren, Kalup and Elizabeth Jerrell of Kevil; two stepdaughters, Kathleen Lindsey and Freddie Booker of Springhill, Louisiana; one nephew, Kenny Smith of Detroit; and one niece, Carol Smith of Detroit.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Howard Holt; her second husband, Fred O’Daniel; one grandson; one sister; and three brothers.
Her parents were Granville D. and Gatha Foley Smith.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 30, 2012, at Morrow Funeral Chapel in Kevil with the Rev. Wayne Carter and Dr. Stewart Strickland officiating.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday evening. There will be an Eastern Star Service 7 p.m. Wednesday.
