TOLLESBORO — Marinell Kirkendall Ash, 81, of Poplar Flat Road, Tollesboro, died Monday, December 17, 2012, at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe in Maysville.
She was born in Trinity, Kentucky, on December 19, 1930, the daughter of the late Elza Augustus and Lillie Marie Boggs Kirkendall. Mrs. Ash was engaged in farming in Lewis, Mason and Fleming counties, part of a century-old family business started by her grandfather. She was one of the founding members of the Lewis County Vegetable Producers Association. She was a 4-H Leader for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Hansel “Hank” Adrian Ash, to whom she was married for sixty-four years; one daughter, Denise Kirk Ash of Lexington, Kentucky; one son, Kelly Christopher Ash (Rhonda) of Paducah, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Whitney LeBlanc (Sam), Amber Christine Carmack (Brian), Meagan Guyette (Jim) and Alexis Kirkendall Ash; and three great-grandchildren, Parker Benningfield, James Guyette and Liberty Guyette.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Bennie and Calvin Kirkendall.
Funeral services for Marinell Ash will be held at the Barbour and Son Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 20, 2012, with the Rev. David Shoemaker officiating.
Burial will be in the Olivet Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bill Boggs, Patrick Boggs, Brian Carmack, Mark Ginn, Jim Guyette, and Gary Pollitt.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
