Margaret S. Lattus Gibson, 86, of Paducah, Ky., formerly of Hickman, Ky., passed away at 8:02 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at Lourdes hospital.
Mrs. Gibson was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, a member of the Daughters of Isabella and Concord Homemakers, a retired Medical Technologist and Laboratory Supervisor, a volunteer with Lourdes hospital Auxiliary, American Red Cross and St. John’s Knights of Columbus. She was a graduate of St. Vincent Academy in St. Vincent, Ky., Nazareth College in Nazareth, Ky., Mercy Hospital School of Medical Technology in Hamilton, Ohio and did Post Graduate work with the University of Chattanooga in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Mrs. Gibson is survived by three stepsons, Richard M. Gibson and wife Patty of Colorado Springs, Colo., Mark C. Gibson of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Kelton W. Gibson and wife Donna of Parker, Colo.; three sister-in-laws, Doris Lattus and Martha Lattus, both of Hickman, Ky., and Vilma Lattus of Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews in the Gibson, Lattus and Roof families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Francis Marion Gibson U.S.A.F. retired; one sister, Elizabeth Lattus Roof and husband Sylvester Roof; seven brothers, Joseph Lattus and wife Mary, James J.C. Lattus and wife Otis, John Lattus and wife Mable Sue, Guy Lattus, Thomas Lattus and wife Larry, Hugh Lattus and Charles Lattus. Her parents were, Jacob Andrew Lattus and Sarah Elizabeth Hogg Lattus.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Rev. Frank Roof and Rev. Tom Buckman officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, February 18, 2013, at Lone Oak Chapel Milner & Orr Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. followed by a rosary service by the Daughters of Isabella.
Pallbearers will be, Jason Roof, Don Lattus, Charles Roof, Greg Roof, David Lattus and David Roof; Alter servers, Paul Strasser and Peter Strasser.
