Louise Jones Bryant, age 90, of Paducah passed away at 12 p.m. August 3, 2012, at Lourdes hospital. She was born on March 14, 1922, in Paducah to John A. and Vera May (Watson) Jones.
Louise grew up in Paducah, spending much of her youth at her parents’ restaurant at Eleventh and Broadway. She graduated from Augusta Tilghman High School in 1940, and then attended the University of Kentucky.
She married John Philip Bryant on August 17, 1942. They were happily married for 58 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two sisters, Mary Jones Gillihan and Cecilia Jones Lyles.
Mrs. Bryant is survived by her daughters, Carolyn (Clyde) Trevathan of Springfield, Louisiana, and Laurel (Richard) Sims of Lexington, Kentucky; her son, Mark (Sue) Bryant of Paducah; one sister, Margaret Elizabeth Fleming, Pensacola, Florida; her grandchildren, Karen Trevathan of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Bryan Trevathan of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Matthew (Christin) Sims and John Sims of Lexington, Kentucky, the Honorable Jennifer Bryant (Brad) Wilcox and David (Kelly) Bryant of Louisville, Kentucky, and Jeffery (Holly) Bryant of Orlando, Florida. She leaves behind her first cousin, Hon. Albert (Lou) Jones, and her nephew, William Bruce (Anna) Lyles.
Louise served on the faculty of Paducah Tilghman High School and greatly influenced many people. For years she was in a variety of activities at Grace Episcopal Church.
She was a Paducah Ambassador and a volunteer for the Red Cross and National Quilt Museum. She was also a member of the Delphic Club, a Duchess of Paducah and a Kentucky Colonel.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with the Rev. Joey Reed officiating and burial in Mt. Kenton Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday from 5-8 p.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
