METROPOLIS, Ill. — Linda Jean McDaniel Schultz.
It is with great sadness that the family of Linda Jean McDaniel Schultz announces her passing after a long and courageous battle with illness on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at the age of 72 years.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Metropolis, Illinois on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at 6:00 p.m.
A native of Metropolis, Linda attended Southern Illinois University, where she met her future husband, Gerald (Jerry) Schultz, of Chicago.
They married in 1960, and had four children, Jennifer, Laurel, Eric, and Marta. She went back to school and received her Master’s Degree in Special Education from Northern Illinois University and became a teacher, teaching in the Plainfield, Illinois schools until her retirement in 2004.
Linda was an exceptionally kind person who took care of many people. In addition to raising her children and her niece, Loralys, she was an excellent teacher, she cared for her husband in his last illness, and has taken care of her mother for many years. She was an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, serving as a Church Elder, Treasurer, and Adult Sunday school teacher. Linda also served as Chairwoman of Worship committee.
Linda will be lovingly remembered by her mother, Alys McDaniel; Linda’s children, Jennifer Reeves of Arlington, Va., Laurel Schultz of Durham, N.C., Eric Schultz and wife Patty of Warrenville, Ill., and Marta Schultz of Metropolis, Ill.; her niece, Loralys McDaniel; her grandchildren, Chelsea and Andy Schultz; her sister, Madeline Schubick and husband Jerry; and her brother, Kent McDaniel and wife Dorothy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Schultz; her father, Paul McDaniel; and her brother, Douglas McDaniel.
